Moving Beyond Boundaries: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Equity

May 30 @ 10:0017:00 UTC+0

Friday 30 May 2025 | 10:00-17:00 | Peter Williams Lecture Theatre/Ogden Lewis Seminar Suite

What does ‘equity’ mean to you, your research, and your discipline? How can researchers embed ‘equitable’ practices within their work? How can we create a more ‘equitable’ research culture?

This free one-day conference interrogates the meaning of ‘equity’ within different research contexts. Bringing together researchers from across the University of Leicester, it seeks to encourage a shared understanding which can help to cross disciplinary boundaries. Moreover, it provides a space for researchers to imagine ways that embedding ‘equity’ across all areas of University activity might transform research culture, environment, and practices for the better.

Speakers include:

  • Dr Margaret Byron (School of Geography, Geology and the Environment)
  • Dr Paul Campbell (School of Criminology, Sociology, and Social Policy)
  • Dr Natalie Darko (NIHR Biomedical Research Centre)
  • Dr Beth Kamunge-Kpodo (Leicester Law School)
  • Dr Nora Musyoka (School of Management)
  • Dr Riya Patel (Centre for Ethnic Health Research)
  • Dr James Pickering (School of Chemistry)
