DESCRIPTION:How can we move beyond representation and put the experiences of Black researchers at the centre of our efforts to improve research culture? In this special online roundtable\, students and staff from each of the four Colleges and central professional services will speak about their experiences of academia and how we can change the culture for the better. \nSpeakers: \n\nDonovan Anderson is a Teaching Fellow and Doctoral Researcher in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences.\nDr James Dawkins is a historian of African enslavement and its legacies in 18th and early-19th century Jamaica and Britain.\nElizabeth Kawesa is a postgraduate researcher in the School of Psychology and Vision Sciences focusing on the well-being and sense of belonging of minority students in higher education.\nDr Pierre Ngon A Mbara is a Teaching Fellow in Finance\, children’s book author\, and researcher with particular interest in asset risk management\, corporate finance\, equity research.\nDr Sadiya Osman is a postdoctoral researcher focusing on how women learners re-engage with further education. SUMMARY:Wellcome I-REACCH Inclusive Research Culture Funding Call
DESCRIPTION:The second round of the I-REACCH Inclusive Research Culture Fund is now open! \nThe Wellcome I-REACCH project is excited to announce its second round of funding for small projects which aim to make the research culture at Leicester more inclusive. Projects might focus on a particular research environment (e.g. School or subject area) or community of researchers (e.g. postgraduates or researchers from Global Majority backgrounds). \nUp to £2\,500 will be available per project\, subject to funding. \nThe scheme is open to all postgraduate researchers and staff at the University of Leicester. Full details of the funding call are available on the I-REACCH website. \nThe deadline for applications is 23:59pm on Thursday 16 October 2025. All funding must be spent by 30 April 2026.
